Seeing the Old with New Eyes

In my time of reflection lately, I was thinking back on meanings in my life that I’ve always taken other’s definitions for. I love using numbers in my divination, I notice often when I get repeat synchronicities and I do try to keep track. There’s so many wonderful sources that people turn to for numbers, like tarot, numerology, angel numbers, etc. Some people comfortably work between many sources, some just pick one. I’m not the first person to create my own nor will I be the last and to be honest, I do love to look at many sources so I can use them all for a broader meaning. But I did have a lot of fun thinking about the numbers 0 - 10, and it’s a scale I’ll add to my repertoire. I wanted to share my personal musings in hopes that it might inspire someone else to ponder over something they could find their own personal meanings for.
A meaning that really resonated with me was that the numbers 0 - 10 could represent the scale of a journey whether that be for a goal, a relationship, a career, etc. It feels right for my personal application to assign it to anything in life. I think that all journeys are fluid, they aren’t always straightforward and so sometimes you may fall from step 7 to 4 or quickly rise from 3 to 6, maybe even jump around from 9 to 5 to 6 to 3 and back up again. The journey is always in some type of perpetual motion, even during the steps where things seem like they’re stuck or where you’re at a step where you stay and continually enjoy the energy of. Something somewhere is always in play whether we’re fully aware of it or not.
0 - The journey has not yet begun. It’s just a thought at the moment or it’s lingering in the future, it’s only a possibility at this moment (but not an impossibility.)
1 - The journey has started. The first step may or may not have been taken, but the motion is now moving ahead on this endeavor. The thought, goal, or anything else, has been realized and now the work can begin.
2 - This is where it’s “official official.” A step has been made, a plan has been thought out, goals have been written down; anything where an actual action has been taken. This also symbolizes to me that the person and universe are on the same page.
3 - I think of 3’s as partnership in a way where some of these steps may involve working with others. Otherwise, 3 to me is kind of that exciting momentum when you’re really moving with things, you’re inspired, you’re having fun, and you’re making good progress.
4 - This one feels a little bit like foundations have finally begun. The important beginning pieces of the steps/process have finally taken shape and things have a solid start. I think of this number to represent the stereotypical household and so sometimes it can mean that family or loved ones are on board in a way. 4 also seems a little clunky in that this might be a spot where we have the thoughts of taking/sensing a break in the future.
5 - 5 feels like we’ve ridden the high of excitement from 1 - 5, we’re halfway done and so this is where a lot of momentum can get lost. We’ve gotten over the honeymoon phase of excitement at the very beginning and now comes all the detail work, the pull to slow down/be intentional, and just kind of a pausing point in some regards. It’s not an invitation to give up by any means (although you’re always able to at any time, this is your life) but it’s a great spot to stop and look back at 0 - 4. Remember your why, look at what you’ve done so far, etc. For some things 5 can also just be an easygoing place to stay at, not much more progress is being made or you might even be in a place where you can continually reap the rewards of the beginning work.
6 - This one feels like the reinvigorated spark or the commitment to begin again. Maybe you’ve rethought some of your approach, you’re restructuring the overall goal, you’ve shed a few of the unnecessary things, figured out what you need, etc. but you’re intentionally moving forward again or growing in some way.
7 - Number 7 feels like chosen family to me or like a support system of some sort. Maybe you’ve figured out who to regularly turn to or even who to let go of. It feels like a step that acknowledges and invites in the support to help push things the rest of the way. In a context other than direct help from others or spirit, I also see this being one that while hope and desire is there to get to the finish line, this may also be a moment of wondering just how much more is left to go.
8 - This one is one of those moments where you know you’re close, you can feel that you’re coming up on an important moment. It also makes me think of a breakthrough type of feeling that helps to fuel the determination needed to reach step 10. At this stage a thing or two may become a little easier. It’s easy to think you’ve reached the finish line at this point but don’t stop yet- keep going.
9 - At this point you can see the finish line, you’re so close to it that you know without a doubt that you’ll reach the goal. Self-confidence starts to really set in, elation, all the good feelings. This is absolutely a step worth celebrating. In fact, depending on the task or goal this sometimes is the step that you stay at because there’s no rebirth necessary if it’s something that can be continually reaped and enjoyed so it can also be considered a completion step of sorts. This would be a great time to look back on the journey, to thank everyone for their help, and to enjoy the relief that comes with having reached the end. If it’s something that could reach the full 10, this could be the point where something needs to be reflected on to help bring the final rebirth into fruition. You may also need to take some type of final action and prepare to start anew at step 0 (or whichever step you can jump to on something else.)
10 - This is the step of final completion, the cycle can end and something else can take its place. It’s a time worth celebrating and looking back over the past to acknowledge all the hard work put in, the skills learned, the things let go, the new things, and even the people who helped along the way. This is the point where you let it go and give it over to the powers that be so you can focus on other things or to prepare to start again.
If you stuck through my ramblings until the end, I hope that this encourages you to see something old with new eyes.
