Are there evil spirits? Can I sell my soul?

While it’s a popular misconception frequently pushed by the media and those of certain faiths, you can't truly "sell your soul." The free will of your spirit can't be taken from you by supernatural or spiritual forces. You can make guarantees or promises to other spirits, and they can try to hold you accountable for your choices by influencing some of the energy around you, but they can't fully remove your free will from you. You'll always be able to make your own decisions regardless of what happens in your life and despite what another spirit requests which is the beauty of being a human spirit. With complete respect to the beliefs of other cultures and religions, it’s a common belief in the spiritual community as of late that we aren't bound by anything other than our spirit temporarily inhabiting a human body.

When people talk about selling your soul, it usually accompanies the idea that you sell it to demons or "negative" entities in exchange for something of value. You are then supposedly “bound to obey them.” Believing in "evil" or "negative" entities is everyone's personal right just as much as the belief that there are no spirits outside of the people we see in our everyday lives. We encourage you to challenge these views and dig into their origins. When it comes to your beliefs about negative entities, are they fear-based or could they be rooted in escapism? Are they founded in religions that you've outgrown or might they be tied to past trauma you’ve experienced?

What does the term "evil" mean to you in regard to a spirit? Is it someone who did horrible things in life before they passed? Is it an entity that does the things you consider to be morally wrong, or do they sometimes do good things too? When you think of a spirit, what does the term "good" mean to you? If you think of things like meeting a set of morals, do you compare your morals to theirs? These are some of the questions that could help you to reevaluate where you sit with your understanding of evil spirits, spirits in general, and even humanity as a whole. Researching many lines of belief, challenging yourself to expand, and finding what resonates deeply with you will influence both how you work with spirits and how you navigate your spiritual practice.

As for us, we personally believe that there is evil in the world just as there is good but it's not quite as clear cut as evil spirits versus good spirits. We think all things are capable of both as well as everything in-between. In the realm of morals, how we perceive the compass of others is completely relative to our life experiences as well as how much we're able to step outside of ourselves while we step into the ethereal skin of another. While we personally hold these beliefs ourselves, we do not represent other cultures, religions, or other practices.
